Chief Homeschool Guide

Hello! I'm Angie, founder of ATC Educational Services & ATC Homeschool Teacher Academy. With over two decades of experience, I'm passionate about empowering homeschool teachers like you.

My journey in education began with a degree in Elementary Education from Tennessee Temple University & a Master's in Curriculum & Instruction from North Carolina State University. I spent a decade in Wake County Public Schools, where I not only taught but also trained fellow teachers in reading, writing, curriculum, & technology.

For over 20 years, I've been a dedicated advocate & guide within the homeschooling community, homeschooling my own children all the way through early college. This firsthand experience, combined with my public school background, gives me a unique perspective on creating effective & enriching educational environments at home. I also help families understand differences in learning, as I have dyslexia myself, & specialize in reading & math instruction.

At ATC Educational Services, I provide expert curriculum coaching & administer Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Achievement, with testing locations in Wendell, Zebulon, & Charlotte. I also manage a thriving Facebook group, fostering a supportive community for over 24,000 NC homeschool families.

I'm especially passionate about helping families teach their homeschoolers to read, particularly those with dyslexia, drawing on my personal experiences.

When I'm not immersed in education, you can find me bass fishing or pursuing other creative endeavors. Our beloved cat, Nacho, is our official "homeschool testing" support, bringing comfort to many students. My husband & I reside in Wendell, NC, & I'm committed to making a positive impact on every family I assist.

ATC Educational Services

Provides Professional Resources, Guidance, & Testing Services for Homeschool Families: ATC understands a single test does not define your child. Your child is so much more than a score. What we do is help offer deep insight into your child's profile of strengths, needs, & learning trajectory. Assessments in a given year and over time provide evidence in fostering educational growth, as well as provide indicators of where you may need to review curriculum or instructional approaches. Whether affirming what you already have assessed about your child, measuring growth over time, building test-taking skills (life is full of tests) & more, we are here to assist you in your homeschool planning, teaching & evaluating growth in a positive, friendly, & professional experience. Our goal is a meaningful NO STRESS ASSESS! For those families who take education seriously, and who recognize that excellence in education requires a deep base of insight into learning and achievement for every student then we can help you! If you are in NC & would like to schedule at one of our locations or if you are in another state and are interested in our online testing option you can visit ATC Educational Services HERE

Frequently asked questions

You’ve got questions. I’ve got answers.

What makes the ATC Homeschool Teacher Academy a more reliable & effective resource than general web searches, AI tools, or even my Facebook group?

There are countless places to search for information on the web, but unfortunately, the accuracy of that information is often questionable. I've even seen firsthand instances where AI bots have provided incorrect answers to important questions, highlighting the risks of relying solely on automated information.

Even within the dynamic environment of Facebook, the sheer volume & varied nature of content can sometimes lead to misinformation or a lack of focused, high-quality discussion.

Podia allows me to provide a proprietary, private space where:

  • Accuracy and Reliability are Prioritized: Unlike open social media, I have full control over the content & discussions within the Academy. This ensures that the information shared is accurate, thoroughly vetted, & directly relevant to the comprehensive, structured support & advanced training we aim to provide.

  • Focused Learning Environment: Podia is designed for education and community building, not broad social interaction. This means less distraction from algorithms, external ads, & unrelated content, allowing members to focus entirely on their learning and growth.

  • Enhanced Security and Privacy: A private community on Podia offers a higher degree of privacy and control over data compared to public social media platforms. This creates a safer & more comfortable environment for members to ask questions, share experiences, & engage in sensitive discussions without concerns about their information being widely disseminated.

  • Structured Content Delivery: Podia's features allow for organized courses, exclusive resources, & dedicated discussion topics, providing a much clearer & more effective learning path than a continuous social media feed.

  • Direct and Meaningful Engagement: By creating a more intimate & curated space, the Academy on Podia fosters deeper connections & more meaningful interactions among members who are truly invested in their homeschooling journey.

This ensures that homeschool families can access the comprehensive, structured support & advanced training they need to truly reach their fullest potential, complementing the wonderful, broader community we've built on Facebook.

Why did you choose to host your work on Podia?

For years, the NC Homeschooling Facebook Group has been an incredible journey. I founded and actively managed this community, watching it flourish into a thriving hub of nearly 25,000 North Carolina homeschool families. It’s been an invaluable space for connection, sharing insights, and addressing the evolving needs of homeschoolers across our state—the very needs that inspired the ATC Homeschool Teacher Academy.

While the Facebook group remains a vibrant and essential community, I recognized a crucial need for a more structured, comprehensive, and dedicated platform to offer advanced training and in-depth support. Members of the facebook group can still search for posts by keywords.
